Adulawonews reports that a fully loaded gas tanker on Sunday lost control and rammed into Bode Market at Molete area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was gathered that the driver lost the control of the vehicle around Idi-Arere area and struggle with it until it got to Bode Market.
The tanker also vandalised some cars on the road before it finally came to a halt in the market in an upside-down position.
It was also gathered that residents of the area scampered for safety as a result of a possible explosion from the incident.
Reacting, the Oyo State Police Command confirmed that five persons died and others were injured in the accident.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Adewale Osifeso and made available to Adulawonews on Sunday.
The Police said the corpses have been deposited at a morgue, adding that efforts were on to evacuate the vehicles and reveal the identities of the deceased.
Osifeso noted that the police with fire Service have successfully managed the situation to prevent fire outbreaks.
