In a bid to put a stop to the nefarious activities of kidnappers and other criminal acts in the area, the Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government area, Mrs Juliana Oluwakemi Akanni, and other
community leaders of Igbeti Toro, on Wednesday, received in audience the security personnel from the state government (Amotekun) to which they played host to for three days.
During their visitation to the Forest Reserve, the Chairman reiterated her commitment to corroborate the effort of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on providing security for people of the council and commended the security personnel for their selfless service towards humanity.
She said: “We hosted Amotekun operatives in our local government area and they came to our vicinity to help us look into how they can support us in the fight against insecurity. They worked for three days in our reserves boundary here in Igbeti to secure us from the onslaught of Fulani herdsmen.
“I am happy to also state that, in my capacity as the Chairperson of the local government area and Igbeti Toro community leaders, we were able to accommodate them. We also gave them full support for the success of the duty they have come to perform here.”
While pledging continued support from her administration to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, she called for caution from the joint taskforce on anti-smuggling in the exercise of duty to avoid accidental discharge and avoidable loss of innocent human lives.
She stated further that security of lives and property is a joint priority, assuring that the security of the residents will continue to be of
topmost priority of her administration.
