BREAKING: NJC Recommends Appointment Of 64 Judges

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the appointment of Justices Nathan Musa and Ozoemena Raymond Afojulu as the Chief Judges of Adamawa and Enugu states.

It also recommended the appointment of two Grand Kadis for the Sharia Courts of Appeal in Adamawa and Niger states; and five Presidents of the Customary Courts of Appeal in Abia, Adamawa, Cross River, Osun and Plateau states.

They are: Kadis Usman Aliyu Girei and Abubakar Musa Mohammed Kigera (as Grand Kadis for the Sharia Courts of Appeal in Adamawa and Niger states).

Others are Justices O. I. Nwamoh; Wajilda Peter; Eneji Maurice Odey; Shiyanbola Raheem Akanbi, and Blessing Lyop Dalyop (as Presidents, Customary Courts of Appeal in Abia, Adamawa, Cross River, Osun and Plateau states).

The NJC, according to its Director, Information, Soji Oye on Friday, made the recommendations at its 96th meeting held in Abuja between December 14 and 15.

According to Oye, the NJC further recommended the appointment of 54 judges.

He said all recommended candidates are expected to be sworn-in after approval of NJC’s recommendations by the respective state governors and the respective state Houses of Assembly, as the case may be.

The High Court of Lagos State got 14.

For Lagos are Okunuga Olubusola Adeyemi, Adeyemi Adenrera Olayinka, Oshin Olufolake Olufolasade, Odusanya Oluwatoyin Atinuke, Martins Olumuyiwa Oluseun, Ariyike Mutiat Ipaye-Nwachukwu, and Babatunde Oladepo Kalaro.

Others are Awope Omolade Jadesola; Akinkunmi Olusegun Idowu; Oresanya Olalekan Ayodeji; Oshodi Mujibat Iyabode; Ijelu Ismail Olalekan; Balogun Mosunmola Muyibat, and Mathias Oluwole Dawodu.
