A Benin-based suspected internet scammer (‘Yahoo boy’), simply identified as Osas, is on the run over the alleged ritual killing of his girlfriend, Elohor Oniorosa.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bello Kontongs, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said on Monday that the father of the victim, William Oniorosa, reported the murder.
He said an investigation was ongoing to arrest the suspect.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Christmas eve at the Egor axis of Benin, the Edo state capital, shortly after Osas returned from Ghana.
Kontongs said, “The suspect’s name is Osas, while his surname is unknown.
“He is a boyfriend of Elohor Oniorosa, the daughter of William Oniorosa, who reported the incident to the police.
“Investigation is on, while the suspect is on the run.”
Edo PPRO also admonished members of the public to always give the police command useful and timely information about criminals in their midst.
He assured that their identities would be adequately protected.
