Osun On The Right Path Of Governor Adeleke’s Rebuilding Efforts

Federal Lawmaker Commends Oyetola On Tremendous Development

– Rallies Support For Gov’s Second Term Ambition

The lawmaker representing Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Federal Constituency of the State of Osun in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yinusa Amobi has commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for all his development strides across the state.

Speaking in Osogbo on Wednesday, during the NUJ-OSBC interview programme, Candid Platform,
Hon. Amobi said Governor Oyetola has done well in every aspect of developing the State of Osun, saying he deserves a second term to complete his good works.

The Federal Lawmaker lauded the Governor on the prompt payment of workers salary, reforms in the education sector, numerous infrastructural projects, provision of affordable and qualitative healthcare as well as welfare of the citizenry.

Hon. Amobi disclosed that the position of the National Assembly has not changed despite the rejection of the electoral act amendment bill by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It would be recalled that President Buhari, in a letter to the Senate and the House of Representatives on December 21 cited several reasons to decline assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

The President said the mandatory use of direct primaries for all political parties in the country would be too expensive to execute and put a financial burden on Nigeria’s slim resources.

Hon. Amobi added the National Assembly would take a position when the house resumes from the Christmas and the New Year break.

According to him, “We have said it often times that the 9th National Assembly is never a rubber-stamp of the executive. Although the President has declined assent into the bill but we have not shifted our position. We received his letter when we were about going for a break and this will top our deliberations when with resume.”

When asked about his position on true federalism and constitutional change, the lawmaker said “true federalism or state control of its resources is good but this has to follow a due process and referendum. Nigeria constitution is not a flexible one that can easily be changed totally but the necessary amendments to make it more suitable is what we are doing in accordance with the rules.”

On the current security challenges in the country, Hon. Amobi described it as a spill-over of terrorism which started about a decade ago in the North and called on everyone to be vigilant and join forces with security agencies to nip the act in the bud.

Hon. Amobi revealed that in less than three years as a representative, he has trained over 556 constituents in various skills, empowered over 556 constituents with commensurate capital and loan, offered training qualification credentials to over 556 constituents.

The lawmaker added that his drive for standard and qualitative education led to the procurement and distribution of 13, 117 text books, the production of 994 customized school bags, and distribution of mathematics kits to some selected science based schools in Ayiwola in his constituency.
