The State Police Command in Kaduna on Thursday arraigned a man, Ismail Musa before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiled his brother’s nine-year-old daughter and be remanded in prison.
The 23-year-old man who resides in Badarawa, Kaduna State was charged by police with defilement.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take Musa’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded in a correctional centre.
Mr Emmanuel directed the police to send the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for advice and adjourned the case until February 28 for DPP advice.
The Prosecution Counsel, Chidi Leo, told the court that Mr Musa committed the offence at his residence and threatened to kill the minor if she tells anyone.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 258 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
