Police Arraign Man Over Attempt To Kill Father In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command on Monday arraign a man identified as Usman Omidinran before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan for attempting to kill his father and he has been ordered to remanded in a correctional facility.

The 23-year-old man whose residence is in Igangan, Oyo was charged with attempted murder by the police.

The Senior Magistrate, Munirat Giwa-Babalola, did not take the plea of the suspect for lack of jurisdiction.

Mrs Giwa-Babalola ordered that he should be remanded in the Nigeria Correction Service in Abolongo, Oyo, pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution.

She adjourned the matter until March 15, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Olufemi Omilana told the court that on January 24, at about 6:30 p.m. the suspect attempted to kill his 65-year-old father, Jimoh.

Mr Omilana alleged that the suspect stabbed his father with a knife in his abdomen and on his left hand for refusing to give him money.
