A Non-governmental organisation, Monsurat Ajoke Foundation has sought the support of well-meaning individuals especially privileged Nigerians to render financial help to victims of rape in Osun State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the founder of the foundation, Miss Monsurat Ibrahim, on Tuesday.
Miss Ibrahim also appealed to law enforcement agents in the state to declare emergency on ensuring that rape victims especially teenagers get justice.
The statement reads in full, “On the 13th of February, 2022, Monsurat Ajoke Foundation under the leadership of Miss Monsurat Ibrahim with two of her executives visited Mariam and Yusro Olapade in one of the ancient cities in State of Osun to know how they are fairing.
“Mariam and Yusro Olapade are the girls whose cases were brought to us 2 years ago that their father was sleeping with them. When we heard about the case, we took it up with their father, made sure he was charged to court and remanded at the Ilesha correctional centre. We took up the care of the girls and their mother since then.
“Through our interventions,the girls and their mother have been separated from their father. The girls are 15 and 12 years of age respectively. The girls’ education is very paramount to us and it is something we can’t afford on our own. Private School owners can help us by admitting this girls into their school and other individuals in other sectors with a heart of gold to help can as well come onboard to monitize the scholarship.
“In addition to it is our plan to empower their mother with an estimate of #200,000. The estimates will take care of her accomodation, get her a grinding machine and sponsor her for petty trading.
“At this juncture, we call on well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad to come to the aid of this family (the girls and their mother) through donation to make this family stand on their feet, integrate the girls back into the society, give them a life worth living and make them feel loved after all they have been through.”
Ibrahim added that the Monsurat Ajoke Foundation in the course of the visitation also extended hands of fellowship to the family.
