The Grand Council of Yoruba Youths (Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba) has appealed to Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and his predecessor Rauf Aregbesola to give peace a chance.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed on Wednesday by the group’s President-General, Comrade Awa Bamiji.

He said the turn of events in the build up to Saturday’s governorship primary of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in the state is “very disturbing.”

Part of the statement read,

“In the interest of peace, unity and camaraderie, we will like to appeal to both sides, our longstanding leader, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to give peace a chance between him and his former Chief of Staff, ally and leader of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

“Aregebesola must accept his former Chief of Staff with open arms while the latter must start giving his former boss due honour without further delay, because after eight years in power, by God’s grace, he too, will be addressed as Ex-Governor of Osun State.

“We must not allow devil to use us to destroy the achievements and good legacies that progressives have built in Osun State since 1999 till date. This is necessary, if truly we all want history to be kind to all of us.

“It is high time we join hands together to restore peace into the progressives fold for the collective good of the people of Osun State,”
