There were several gunshots at Ward 7, Ilesa, Ilesa East Local Government of the State of Osun, as hoodlums reportedly chased away supporters of Alhaji Moshood Adeoti during the declaration of result.
ADULAWONEWS gathered that there were disagreements between Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and Adeoti’s supporters over declaration of accredited voters.
According to Alaba Popoola, a member of the APC and a supporter of Oyetola, the Returning Officers at the ward refused to announced the total number of accredited voters against the normal practice.
Popoola stated that 808 votes were announced for Oyetola while 46 was declared for Adeoti at the end of the exercise.
According to him, “We knew that they were planning to rig the election and that was why we asked for the number of accredited voters. When they declared 808 for Oyetola, the APC members rejected the result and before we know it, hoodlums started trooping in with gunshots. They were shooting into the air to scare people away.”
