IBEDC Gives Reasons Why Ibadan, Osun, Ogun, others Are Experiencing Prolonged Power Outage

Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) management says the states under its franchise are experiencing prolonged power outage due to low weekly power allocation to its network by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

This was revealed in a statement issued on Sunday in Osogbo by Kikelomo Owoeye, IBEDC Senior Communication Officer

Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara and Ibadan are the areas affected by the power outage.

Residents of the four states and Ibadan have been complaining about “terrible” power supply in the last few weeks.

The situation is further worsened by the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country.

Owoeye noted that the weekly power allocation to IBEDC network by TCN dropped from 692.5 megawatts to 368.5 megawatts.

“This has led to massive load shedding across our franchise in Ogun, Oyo, Ibadan, Osun and Kwara region.

“Kindly bear with us, as we work with stakeholders in the electricity value chain on sustainable resolution,” she said.

The communications officer, however, did not say how long the power outage will last.
