Two Brothers Jailed For Stealing Ceiling Fans From Mosque In Ogun

 
One Anu Akinsanya and his younger sibling, Tayo Akinsanya, have been sentenced to prison for stealing ceiling fans from a mosque in Ogun State.

The young men who are just 20 and 18 years of age respectively, committed the punishable crime on March 17, 2021.
An Ota Magistrates Court sitting in Ogun on Monday found the two brothers guilty of the charges against them and sentenced them to three months jail term each.

The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, had earlier told the court that the convicts committed the offence at Iwoye town in Ota.

Adaraloye claimed that the convicts had broken into the Iwoye Central Mosque and stolen two ceiling fans worth N44, 000.

According to him, their offence contravened the provisions of sections 390(9), 451, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The convicts, whose addresses were not provided, were thus charged with theft and burglary, Naija News reports.

Magistrate A. O. Adeyemi observed that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts, and found the duo guilty of the charge preferred against them.

The court judge sentenced the two to prison without an option of a fine.
