A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan on Thursday ordered the remand of a secondary school teacher identified as Oyebode Alayoteti at Abolongo Correctional facility for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old student in his school.
Chief Magistrate Patricia Adetuyibi did not take the plea of the defendant, pending the advice of Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ms Adetuyibi adjourned the case until August 18 for mention.
Prosecution counsel Folake Ewe said the 49-year-old teacher at the Federal Government College, Oyo town allegedly committed the offence between November 2021 and May 2022.
“The defendant (allegedly) started molesting the girl since she was in Junior Secondary School,” Inspector Ewe told the court.
Tunde Olupona appeared for the defendant, while C. I. Ipinsokan and others held watching brief for the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
