No fewer than two persons were trapped and five rescued as two-storey building under construction collapsed in Kubwa satellite town of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
It was gathered that the incident occurred near Aso Savings Bank in the early hours of Friday.
Two people are still trapped while Five persons have be rescued from the rubble, while two workers are still trapped.
One of the rescued victims said the collapsed building injured two workers who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, leaving threeunder the rubble.
A resident of the area, Emmanuel Omeke, told newsmen that the collapsed building was initially a shopping mall, but was recently converted into residential apartments.
He said the addition of extra blocks to the structure may have led to the collapse. Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have commenced rescue operation.
