Court Remands Man For Alleged Murder Of Woman In Ibadan

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan on Monday ordered the remand of a man identified as Fatai Gbeminiyi at Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town over alleged murder.

The 50-year-old man who resides in Abebi Area of Ibadan was charged with murder.

However, Chief Magistrate Idowu did not take the plea of the accused because of the court’s lack of jurisdiction.

He ordered that Mr Gbeminiyi be kept at the correctional facility pending advice by the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned the matter till October 27 for mention.

Prosecution Counsel, Iyabo Oladoyin, had earlier told the court that Mr Gbeminiyi unlawfully caused the death of Tinuke Olayiwola, 39, on August 20.

She said Mr Gbeminiyi clubbed the late Tinuke to death at the Abebi area in Ibadan, using a pestle during a fracas, adding that the offence contravened the Criminal Code of Oyo State.
