Insecurity: Osun NSCDC Boss Solicits Proactive Intelligence From Traditional Rulers

The State of Osun Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Sunday Agboola, In continuation of his familiarisation visits, paid a visit to the palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesha land , His Imperial Majesty Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran.

He also proceeded to the palace of Elegboro of Ijebu Jesha, His Royal Majesty Oba Oluwafemi Agunsoye Abikehin Ekun Agunsoye II also to the palace of Owaloko of Iloko Ijesha, His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi Ekun VI and to the palace of Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi

Speaking on the purpose of his visit, Commandant Sunday Agboola stated that traditional rulers have vital roles to play in the fight against insecurity bedeviling the country, as they are in the best position to enlighten their subjects on the need to always provide actionable intelligence to security agencies in their communities.


Commandant Agboola, who said the visit became imperative considering the crucial roles traditional rulers play in tackling crime and criminality in their different communities.

The Osun NSCDC boss said, “the Corps has enjoyed a robust relationship with traditional rulers and we are ready to work extra hard to bring insecurity to the barest minimum in Osun State

“Security personnel need information on suspicious movement in your community, as this will help nip crime in the bud” .

He also stated that the prayers of the Royal Fathers would enable him succeed in his new assignment in Osun.

In their respective responses, the Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Elegboro of Ijebu Jesha, HRM Oba Oluwafemi Agunsoye Abikehin Ekun Agunsoye II, HRM Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe Ajagbusi Ekun VI and Alapomu of Apomu Oba Kayode Afolabi said they were delighted to have the State Commandant in Osun State as NSCDC personnel in their communities have been discharging their duties with every sense of professionalism.

The royal fathers also disclosed that they were aware of the needs of the Corps in terms of logistics, and promised to contribute their quota, in order to effectively fight insecurity in Ijesha land.

The traditional rulers, who also made it known that they would continue the existing relationship they have with the Corps; assured the State Commandant that their communities would always provide actionable intelligence to help stamp out crime and criminality in the state.


They, then, showered royal blessings on the Commandant, for a successful tenure of office.
