The self acclaimed Olofin of Orubu, Dr Francis Olabanji Lucas in Atakunmosa East Local Government Area, Osun State have been described a stranger who is not eligible to occupy the royal throne.
Dr. Lucas who was installed by Oba Thomas Lucas ,the Loye of Igangan Ijesa in August,2021 as Olofin of Orubu according to aged of the farm settlement village (Orubu) was an imposter who should never be given serious attention.
Speaking with our correspondent, an elder of Omoworare family who does not want his name mentioned said the late Abe Omoworare ( grandfather of Gabriel Omoworare) founded Orubu Village many years ago.
He added that Abe Omoworare and his son, late Gabriel Omoworare were the first to deforest and farm on the thick virgin land on which Orubu village is currently situated and the duo of Abe Omoworare and Gabriel Omoworare were the first to settle on that land.
“When Orubu became fairly well populated the members of the family of Abe Omoworare selected, appointed and installed Gabriel Omoworare as the first Olorubu of Orubu Village.
“Gabriel Omoworare was later ordained an elder of The Apostolic Church, Igangan. He abdicated the Olorubu Chieftaincy title on religious grounds and his half brother, Daniel Sanya Omoworare was nominated, appointed and installed as the next Olorubu of Orubu Village.
“Daniel Sanya Omoworare died sometime in the year 2021 and he was buried in May 2021. The chieftaincy title of Olorubu of Orubu Village became vacant upon his death” he said.
An actoganarian who identified himself as Samuel Babarinwa faulted the appointment of Dr. Lucas as Olofin of Orubu saying the selection single handedly performed by the current Loye of Igangan Ijesa was suspicious.
“We do not accept Dr. Lucas Olofin of Orubu and the royal family of Omoworare should do the needful.
“I am surprised that the Olofin of Orubu is now the new title adopted in addressing Orubu king instead of Olorubu of Orubu used by the previous monarchs” Babarinwa said.
However, investigation revealed that Dr. Lucas, an abroad returnee and self acclaimed Olofin of Orubu is a nephew to Oba Thomas Lucas, Loye of Igangan Ijesa.
