PDP Debunks Report Of Tambuwal Resigning Position As Party Governors’ Forum

Following the media reports that Tambuwal has been replaced, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF) and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has not resigned from his position.

This was revealed in a statement on Friday by the Director General of the forum, Hon. Cyril Maduanum.

After the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, on Thursday, reports filtered in that Tambuwal had resigned from his position as the PDP-GF chairman.

It was also gathered that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has replaced Tambuwal as the PDP-GF chairman, in order to pacify the South and make Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his camp to support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Maduanum said Makinde has not emerged as the new PDP-GF chairman, adding that there has been no changes in the forum.

Part of the statement read

“This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum contrary to some media reports.

“Members of the PDP Governors Forum are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the Party. To this end a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened,”
