Osun state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has lambasted Governor Gboyega Oyetola for blaming it for his disqualification, urging the defeated Governor to face the nullification of his nomination due to violation of the constitution.
Reacting to the Governor’s statement accusing PDP of responsibility for his woes, the PDP State Caretaker Chairman,Dr Adekunle Akindele, reminded Mr Oyetola that the case was filed by concerned legal luminaries in April 2022, querying how the matter is related to the ongoing unfounded petition of the outgoing Governor before the Tribunal.
Recall that ADULAWONEWS had yesterday reported that The Federal High Court nullified the nomination of Governor Isiaka Oyetola and his Deputy Governorship candidate, Benedict Alabi on the ground that Governor Mai Mala Buni who submitted their names to INEC violated the provisions of Section 183 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Section 82(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.
PDP reminded the Governor and the APC that the issue borders on constitutional breaches, the party Chairman declared that any Nigerian is qualified to seek judicial review to protect the integrity of the constitution which is the ground norm of the nation, adding ” this is a matter of national interest”
Faulting the claim of internal affairs in a constitutional matter, the party Chairman said such reasoning is a signal of half baked understanding of the law and referred to the judgement which said the provisions of section 183 of the constitution were breached in the process of Oyetola and his deputy’s nominations.

According to him,” For Oyetola and his team, that section of the constitution expressly notes as follows: ‘The governor shall not, during the period when he holds office, hold any other executive office or paid employment in any capacity whatsoever’. As the breaches were truly real, we are not responsible for the nullification which renders Mr Oyetola an interloping participant in the July 16th elections.
” Irrespective of the nullification judgement, PDP and her candidate, the Governor-elect, have prepared water tight defence. It was Mr Oyetola who was scared of his very weak petition who had resorted to media trial which has further destroyed any credibility the frivolous petition may have initially enjoyed.
Reminding the Governor that his legal setbacks will soon widen further , Dr Akindele said the APC is facing the consequences of being a disbeliever in democratic ethos which requires respect and acceptance of people’s will.
” Let the Governor do the needful and congratulate Senator Adeleke on his electoral victory. If he can’t return to Iragbiji on November 27th, Lagos will be eager to take him in”, he stated.
