Lagos Lawmaker Dies Two Weeks Before Daughter’s Wedding

Barely 18 days before his daughter’s wedding, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdulsobur Olayiwola Olawale, is dead.

Olawale, popularly known as Omititi, yesterday reportedly slumped and died shortly after the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally held at Rawang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.

The wedding was scheduled to hold on December 3.

Olawale was a two-term lawmaker representing Mushin constituency II.

He lost his third term bid to a former Sole Administrator of Mushin Local Government, Yinka Esho Kazeem.

Survived by a wife and three children, the 58-year-old was the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government Services.

He was installed as the Seriki Bobagunwa of Egbaland by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, last year.

Last week, during a novelty football match to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, Olawale manned the goalpost.

Earlier yesterday, another chieftain of the APC in Mushin, Mrs. Juliana Modupe Awodogan, popularly called “Iya Oniyan,” died.

Mrs. Awodogan, it was learnt, died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after a brief illness.
