Ahead of the official commissioning of Olaiya Flyover in Osogbo by Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu today, the State Government of Osun has issued traffic advisory to motorists in Osogbo the state capital of Osun.
This was contained in advisory statement issued by Governor Oyetola Special Adviser on works Engr Hussein Olatoke Bisi Olaniyan on Thursday.
The statement reads “Owing to the Commissioning of Olaiya Overhead Bridge (Flyover) by the Government of the State of Osun that will be carried-out at Olaiya Intersection, Osogbo, Inbound Traffic (movement) from Ogo-Oluwa/Aregbe – Olaiya; Akindeko – Olaiya; MDS – Olaiya and Odi-Olowo – Olaiya Intersection would be closed between 5am and 4pm on Thursday 17th November, 2022.

“The Traffic at Olaiya Intersection will be closed during the period of commissioning for about 11hours for both Vehicular and Pedestrian Traffic.
For free flow of Traffic, the general public, particularly the motoring public, is hereby admonished of the need to plan their journey, maintain lane discipline, drive cautiously, avoid driving in a direction prohibited by Traffic Law (One Way), cooperate and show understanding with Traffic Managers as they ply the diversion routes, take necessary precautions and advised to make use of alternative routes as follows:
“A.ABEERE / OGO-OLUWA / AREGBE / OLD FAKUNLE AXIS:
Inbound Motorists from Abeere / Ogo-Oluwa /Aregbe to Alekuwodo / MDS / Old Garage / Fagbewesa / Odi-Olowo axis:
1. Heavy Good Vehicles (HGVs) from Abeere to either make U-turn at opposite DSS / IMMIGRATION junction and negotiate November 27 Interchange Bridge to EbunOluwa to West By-Pass and link destination; Or
Negotiate November 27 Interchange Bridge at Africa side to East By-Pass to Ilesha Garage and link destination;

“2. Other categories of vehicles (light vehicles) to make U-turn at Airtel office, branch at First Bank Aregbe and take Old Coca-Cola /Awosuru to Alekuwodo / Okefia and link destination; Or
Climb and use the service lane in front of Zenith Bank and follow either Omowunmi Street beside NEM Insurance, or Omokehinde Street or United Baptist Church (UBC) Street to link Abake / Odi-Olowo and connect destination,
“3. All Inter-State vehicles will be diverted and make use of November 27 Interchange Bridge and connect their destinations.
“B.OLD GARAGE / AJEGUNLE / AIYETORO / MDS AXIS:
1.Inbound Motorists from Aiyetoro / Old-Garage / Ajegunle / MDS to either (a) Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere or (b) Okefia / Dada Estate axis: (ai) Use Old-Garage to Rasco to Okefia to Akindeko / Akinlade to link Aregbe and to Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere and connect destination;
Or (aii) Use Old-Garage to Post Office Junction to Fagbewesa and make U-turn at Fagbewesa/Odi-Olowo Junction and branch at Jaleyemi junction to link Gbodofan / Girl School to Aregbe (One-Way) to Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere and connect destination;
Or (aiii) Use Old-Garage to Post Office Junction to Station Road and branch at Gbeemu Junction to link Isale-Aro to Gbodofan / Girl School to Aregbe (One-Way) to Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere and connect destination.
Or(b) Use Old-Garage to Rasco to Okefia to Dada Estate and link destination
“C. JALEOYEMI / ODI-OLOWO AXIS:
Inbound Motorists from Odi-Olowo / Jaleoyemi / Isale Aro to either: (a) Alekuwodo / Okefia or (b) Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere or (c) Old-Garage axis:
(a) Branch at Jaleyemi junction to link Gbodofan / Girl School to Aregbe (One-Way), make U-turn at Airtel Office and branch at First Bank Aregbe and take Awosuru to Alekuwodo / Okefia and link destination
Or
(b) Branch at Jaleyemi Hospital junction to link Gbodofan / Girl School to Aregbe (One-Way), make U-turn at Airtel Office and link Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere
Or
(c) Branch at Jaleoyemi to Isale-Aro to Gbeemu Junction to Station road to Old-Garage and connect your destination.

“D.OKEFIA / ALEKUWODO AXIS:
Inbound Motorists from Okefia / Alekuwodo to either:
(a) Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere or
(b) Odi-Olowo / Isale Aro / Oja-Oba or
(c) MDS / Old-Garage / Aiyetoro
(a)Use Akinlade Street Oremeji Junction to First Bank (Aregbe Junction) to Ogo-Oluwa / Abeere and link destination.
(b)Use Rasco / Old-Garage to MDS / Post Office junction to Gbeemu to either Oja-Oba or Odi-Olowo / Isale Aro and connect destination
(c)Use Rasco / Old-Garage to either New Orisunmibare Market Area or to Aiyetoro and link destination.
“ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES
Direction Markings, Appropriate Sign Posts and Traffic Officers will be placed at strategic locations to guide and direct the Motorists.
Illegal Parking on the alternative routes will not be allowed to ease the diversion of traffic.
“All vehicles should be parked inside the freedom park while vehicles of the important dignitaries will be parked at the mini parking lot beside Olaiya intersection
Security agents like the police etc will be allowed to park along the main road without causing any infringement to the flow of traffic.

“O-TRAM Officials, O-YES Cadets, FRSC, POLICE, Man O’ War and the NSCDC, would be strategically positioned along the diverted routes and critical locations (like Okefia, Olaiya, New Orisunmibare Market Area, Jaleyemi, Aregbe, Akindeko and Akinlade Junctions, Capital, Lameco e.t.c.) to ensure compliance and orderliness, as well as, penalize errant and recalcitrant motorists with the intent of disrupting traffic flow.
“We therefore seek motorists’ cooperation and understanding as you adjust and get used to this short road traffic diversion exercise.”
