The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ibara, Abeokuta, CSP Bernard Ediagbonya, has been removed for alleged negligence.
This comes after Lekan Adekanbi, the prime suspect arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of ex-staff of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kehinde Fatinoye, escaped from police custody in Ogun State.

ADULAWO NEWS recalls that Lekan was arrested following an earlier arrest of another suspect who was the house help to the deceased.
Adekanbi who was the driver of the late CBN staff until the day he was assassinated was arrested and held in custody to aid the investigation.
However, two policemen from Ibara division on Tuesday were said to have taken the suspect to a hospital after he complained of fever and he escaped while pretending to urinate.
A source who spoke to DAILY POST said the policemen did not handcuff the suspect, from the time he was arrested up until the time he was in the hospital.
According to the source, Lekan fled after discovering that the Fatinoyes’ domestic staff, who was taken away by the assassins along with their son, did not die and has been restless after seeing her.

“At the hospital, Lekan was said to have pretended like he wanted to urinate and he escaped”
The latest development led to the removal of Bernard Ediagbonya without any posting as the command directed the most senior officer in the division to take over.
Ediagbonya has also been ordered to resume at the police headquarters, Eleweran, with immediate effect, and the officers, under whose care the suspect escaped, are facing sanctions for failing to prevent Adekanbi from running away.
