Group Raises The Alarm, Accuses Muniru Raji Of Disrupting Basiru’s Projects In Osogbo

A group, Oroki Elites Group, has accused a PDP stalwart in Osun State, Alhaji Muniru Raji, of backing attempts to disrupt on-going developmental project, facilitated by the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr. Ajibola Basiru for the benefit of the people of Osogbo, the state capital.

They also advised the sponsors of Alhaji Raji to prevail on him to stop the ignoble act capable of undermining the development of Osogbo, as the project is part of the 2022 budget, implemented by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday, Spokesperson, Oroki Elites Group, Dr. Akeem Adetunji said the group is worried over the politician’s act, especially Monday’s incident at the flag-off ceremony for the total reconstruction of Iso Ewe, Iso Isu and Iso Eran markets road.

Adetunji accused Alhaji Raji of leading hoodlums and security operatives to disrupt all activities at site of the project last torched 34 years ago, because it is facilitated by a non-member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state.

Dr. Adetunji said for the intervention of the market women, the hoodlums who carted away construction equipment on Raji’s instructions, saying his actions signals moves to be a cog in the wheel of Osogbo’s development quest.

He said: “On Monday 9th of January, the contractor that is to handle the road had mobilised to the site very early when all of a sudden, armed policemen came and sent the contractors away; demanding “approval to do the road”!

“The police did not stop at that, they descended on the rentals service provider of the canopies about to be pitched off the road and inside Iso Eran for a brief flag off ceremony and he was whisked away to detention for “breaching of public order act”! Senator Ajibola Basiru, APC Leaders in Osun Central and aged market women had to stay in the scorching sun later in the afternoon for the flag off.

“A Muniru Raji who has always claimed to be apolitical and for the progress of Osogbo is reported to have visited the site immediately after the flag off and told the market women that APC is no longer in power, therefore, its serving Senator cannot rehabilitate the road! After his address, thugs were mobilised and they dismantled the map-lines and survey erections; carting away some light objects for geological analysis in respect of this said road!

“Muniru is reported to have stressed that his party would do the reconstruction in two months! The market women thereafter demanded that they would prefer the construction immediately and there are more kilometres of road that he can as well facilitate if genuinely he means progress.
Furthermore, the market women retorted that the road be done immediately by whoever is ready, and in this case, SRJ!

“It is now crystal clear that a man who claims to love Osogbo is the same man throwing clog in the wheel of the town’s progress.

“We wish to call on Osogbo indigenes home and in the diaspora to please prevail on Alhaji Muniru Raji who has assumed an arguably high status in government with authority to stop setting Osogbo against itself. Baba Muniru Raji is few years away from 70 and at such age as an Osogbo Father to a serving 50 year-old Senator, he should be fortifying the nuclear charge of developmental nucleus of SRJ!
Please and please help us appeal to Alhaji Muniru Adebayo Raji. We will not like a situation where the Senator will be forced to move this project perhaps to other community where political hostility is not embraced!

“We equally advise the sponsors of Muniru Adebayo Raji to prevail on him to desist from ignoble act of undermining the development of Osogbo.

“The Commissioner of Police Mr Faleye Sunday Olaleye should ensure adequate provision of security for the contractors and other ad-hoc workers while the construction project lasts,” Oroki Elites Group said.
