Kenyan-American Elkanah Kibet has won the 8th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon with a time of 2:14:00.
ADULAWO NEWS reports that he overtook meet record holder and former race leader David Bamasai at the 26km mark to clinch the 2023 Lagos City Marathon.
Kibet has thus won the $50,000 prize tag for the Marathon.

Kibet is a Kenyan-born American long distance runner. An alumnus of Auburn University, he is also a financial management technician in the United States Army and competes in marathons as a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program.
The first Nigerian to reach the finish line in the 2023 Lagos City Marathon got there in an impressive time of 2hrs 14mins 6secs.
This is only 6 seconds shy of the winner who finished in 2hrs 14mins 00secs.
