On Monday, Dino Melaye, the collation agent for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dared Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to eject him from Abuja’s International Convention Centre (ICC).
Melaye made this statement while criticizing INEC’s method of result compilation and announcement.
The Kogi-born lawmaker, who was questioning all the results submitted by the various State Collation Officers, warned Yakubu that the right thing must be done.
Melaye continued, saying that while he wasn’t malicious, he wanted the results announced at the voting places to be posted on the INEC website so that they could be compared to those announced by the state’s collation officers.
Melaye said, “We cannot have another state, I’m not destructive. The electoral act says that what is uploaded is what is being read.
He added, “You can bundle me out, but the right thing must be done. I’m a party agent, that is what the constitution says.”
