The certificates of return for the candidates who won seats in the Senate and House of Representatives on last Saturday’s election will be distributed next week.
This was stated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and Chairman Mahmood Yakubu on Saturday.
Yakubu stated that the House of Representatives and Senate candidates would receive their certificates on March 7 and 8, respectively.
In addition, the INEC Chairman announced that 423 parliamentary seats had winners, and that 46 constituencies would likely need to hold additional elections.
It was revealed that 98 out of the 109 Senate seats and 325 out of the 360 House of Representatives seats have also been declared.
Seven political parties won the senate seats; eight parties won the House of Representatives seats.
“Senators/House of Reps-elect to receive certificates on 7th, 8th March respectively,” the INEC boss said.
