The Osun State House of Assembly election is going on peacefully in Ile-Ife. Our visitation to the polling units in Iyekere, Ilode, Lagere Moore, Ojoyin Ogbon oya and Ife environs revealed that the turnout was generally low.
The Information Crew also did the on the spot assessment to Urban Day Grammar School, Mayfair Ile Ife, Abiri, Ita Elewa and Mokuro where all the electorate conducted themselves peacefully.
It is apparent that the prevailing cash crunch coupled with the fact that Osun is not partaking in the Governorship election, impacted negatively on electorate turnout.
We also noticed that INEC officials reported for duty, with their materials on time, while security personnel were sufficiently on ground.
The Information Crew moved to Ipetumodu in Ife North Local Government, where we spoke with the PDP Chairman in Ife North Local Government, Prince Akande Michael, who cast his vote at Ipetumodu ward 2.He appreciated the decorum with which NEC officials and the security personnel operated. He however lamented the low turn out of the people.
Speaking in the same vein, APC stalwart in Ile Ife, Hon. Popoola Stephen who performed his civic duty at Ilare ward 2, unit 2, aligned with the submission of others that the election process was orderly.
