Police Arrest Lawyers Filing Tribunal Petitions For APC

Policemen have arrested three lawyers who are reportedly filing processes for the All Progressives Congress at the election petition tribunal in Port Harcourt.

The lawyers are reportedly preparing petitions to challenge the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of the winner of the just completed governorship election in Rivers State.

According to reports, they were apprehended on Friday night at the Port Harcourt hotel where they were staying. It is still unknown why they were detained.

The legal professionals are affiliated with Senior Advocate of Nigeria Tuduru Ede’s Chamber.

The incident was reported to our correspondent on Saturday afternoon by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju.

“Yes, it is true. They were arrested last night. We are going to brief the press,” Nwauju stated.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko proved abortive as her mobile phone was not reachable as at the time of filing this report.
