Adamawa State Police Command have nabbed two local hunters for presenting themselves as officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Balkari village of Hong Local Government Area.

The two men, Ismaila Alim, 27, and Abdulrazaq Bindow, 29, have been identified as Maiha LGA residents.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the state’s police public relations officer, the suspects invaded Balkari village wearing NDLEA uniforms in the early morning hours of March 2, 2023 and equipped with firearms.

On the fatal day of March 2, according to Nguroje, the command apprehended the suspects and found two pump action weapons, 11 live rounds, handcuffs, leg chains, and jackets on them.

He claimed that three of the villagers—Amos Daniel, Kwada Fitagu, and Gambo Zira—were arrested and handcuffed after the bogus officials led the people to believe they were members of the NDLEA.

The villagers, however, alerted the police when they suspected the actions of the hunters. The Police thereafter effected their arrest.

He said investigations had already shown that the suspects are members of the Adamawa State chapter of the Hunters Association of Nigeria.

“The CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation and ensure all their collaborators are arrested and prosecuted”. the police statement said.
