Residents of Apa, Benue State, have taken to the streets in protest over recent senseless killings in the region carried out by what are thought to be herdsmen militia.
On Friday, a large group of adolescents converged on the Oweto-Loko/Abuja road. The demonstrators set up barriers on the roadway.
For more than five hours, commuters were stranded.
Some of the demonstrators stated they wouldn’t remove the blockade until either Governor Samuel Ortom or President Muhammadu Buhari addressed them.
The protesters lamented that over 100 people had been killed in the community, including a beaded chief whose hand was chopped off while running from the Fulani herdsmen.
