Three Die, One Rescued In Ibadan Auto Accident

At least three people on Wednesday lost their live and one person was rescued by the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) following an auto crash involving two articulated trucks along Boluwaji area of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.

It was revealed that one of the vehicles involved, a truck with commercial plate registration number GGE-598XE was plying one-way, driving against traffic and had an head-on collision with an incoming long trailer belonging to the Dangote Group.

While the injured person was instantly moved to the hospital with the help of passers-by and OYRTMA officials, families of the deceased were at the scene to identify and recover their remains.

According to the official statement, “Through concerted efforts of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and our Emergency Rescue Team, we have evacuated the vehicles from the road to the police station to forestall further crashes at the scene.

“As at the time of filling this report, normalcy has been returned to the area and commuters are enjoined to go about their normal movements. Our men and officers are along the corridor and we beseech motorists to drive with caution, shun the temptation of one-way-driving and move at reasonable and permissible speeds because as speed thrills, it also kills.

“Lastly, we express our heartfelt condolences to families of the lost ones and pray for the repose of their souls,”
