BREAKING: President Tinubu Dissolves Boards Of FG Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, Govt-Owned Companies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has granted approval for the immediate dissolution of the Governing Boards of all Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies.

This was revealed in a press release signed by, Willie Bassey, Director Information for Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

According to Willie, The decision was in line with the President’s exercise of constitutional powers and his commitment to the public interest.

However, it is important to note that the dissolution does not apply to Boards, Commissions, and Councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

During this transitional period, until new boards are constituted, the Chief Executive Officers of the Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies have been directed to refer any matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President. They are to do so through the Permanent Secretaries of their respective supervisory Ministries and Offices.

To ensure a smooth flow of communication, Permanent Secretaries have been instructed to forward such correspondences to Mr. President via the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. It is crucial for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to adhere to this directive, which came into effect on Friday, June 16, 2023.

In light of the directive, Permanent Secretaries are specifically tasked with informing the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Agencies under the supervision of their respective Ministries/Offices to promptly comply.
