Police Detain Health Workers, Security Officer Over Placenta Theft In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three health workers from the Comprehensive Health Center located in Emure Ile, Owo Local Government Area. The arrests were made in connection with the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby’s placenta.

The suspects, identified as a nurse, a health assistant, and a security officer employed at the health center, stand accused of colluding to pilfer the placenta. Their defense, incredibly, is that a dog infiltrated the premises and devoured the crucial organ.

The distressing incident came to light when the family of the newborn became increasingly concerned after the health officials adamantly refused to hand over the placenta to either the father or the grandmother. Despite five days elapsing since the delivery, the health workers failed to comply with the family’s request.
