Minister of Defence Leads Nigerian’s Delegation To Germany For Annual Invictus Games

The Honorable Minister of Defence, Alh. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar CON Mni, has led Nigeria’s delegation to Invictus Games 2023, which is holding from 9th-16th September in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Initiated in 2014 by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, the unique international sports festival is hosted by The German Federal Armed Forces and the City of Düsseldorf for the first time in 2023.

Under the motto “A HOME FOR RESPECT.” The city, together with the German Federal Armed Forces, welcomes around 500 competitors from 21 nations as well as around 1,000 family members and friends to compete in ten disciplines.

The goal of the 6th Invictus Games is to give soldiers who are wounded, injured, or ill in body and soul a greater awareness and recognition in society and to support their path in rehabilitation.

The Honorable Minister also met with his counterparts, Boris Pistorius Minister of Defence of Germany, Kajsa Ollongren Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Mr. Park Min-shik Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of South Korea, as well as Bill Nelson (NASA Administrator) to discuss areas on how to foster collaboration to enhance security.

Nigeria is also the only African country in Dusseldorf for the sports festival taking place at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.
