The Commissioner for Youth Affairs in Osun, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan has reacted to our publication titled “Imole Youth Corps: Endless Waiting And The Promise Of Gov Adeleke” saying our report is misleading.

Olalekan in his response insisted that no manual registration process was already in place for the Imole Youth Corps scheme.

According to the commissioner “Contrary to the assertion of a manual registration process, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan” noted “that a dedicated website has been established for online registration, emphasizing the program’s commitment to a digital approach rather than a traditional, pen-and-paper method.”

ADULAWO News recalls that a statement released and signed by the spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed on February 15, 2023 titled “Governor Adeleke Creates Imole Youth Corps, Dissolves O-YES” noted that a designed free paper form attached to our report was already in place for applicants

Olawale statement reads in part “The Government of Osun State has dissolved the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (O-YES), creating the Imole Youth Corps.

“In a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye, the State Government said the decision was taken to reposition the Youth empowerment programme inherited from the previous government for effective functionality, sustainability and dignity of labour.

“In fulfilling one of the electoral promises of His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in ensuring meaningful and proper youth Engagement in the state, a new Scheme code named Imole Youth Corps is hereby put in place to engage our teeming youths in the state.

“Application forms will be available for prospective youths in all the 30 LGs including Ife East Area Office of the State FREE of charge beginning from Friday, 17th February, 2023.”, the statement noted.

But the commissioner who attributed the delay in the Imole Youth Corps Program to thorough planning aimed at ensuring its success added that the strategic silence of Governor Adeleke surrounding the scheme was to allow the government to unveil comprehensive details at an opportune time.

“This approach aims to surpass the organizational and remuneration standards set by the previous administration” the commissioner said.

Reacting to the analog paper and pen registration process contained in our report which was an opposite approach to the now disolved process, the youth commissioner said “The narrative suggesting exclusive manual registration for the Imole Youth Corps Program lacks accuracy.
