The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria can feed itself without importing food items from other countries and can even become a net exporter of food items.
ADULAWO News reports that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday in Aso Villa, Abuja.
Idris emphasized Nigeria’s pursuit of food self-sufficiency and possible exports, with governors pledging to collaborate with the President to bolster agricultural investments covering crop production and livestock development to ensure food security for Nigerians.
According to him, “A decision has also been taken that, in the interest of our country, there will be no need for food importation at this point. Nigeria has the potential to feed itself and even be a net exporter of food items to other countries.
“The governors have also agreed to join hands with Mr President to deepen their own investment in the agricultural sector so that more food will be made available to Nigerians.
