The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR), Osun, has written Governor Ademola Adeleke to seek a comprehensive report on the financial mismanagement uncovered during the previous administration under the watch of ex-Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola that led to the extension of the service years of the state head of service Mr. Samuel Ayanleye Aina.

The right group requested this through the Freedom of Information Act in a letter submitted to the office of the Governor dated 26, March 2024 and obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday, Osogbo, Osun state.

In a letter signed by the CDRH State Chairman, Comrade. Emmanuel Olowu urged the Governor to provide information that would assist the citizens in understanding the reforms his government has embarked on.

The read apart; A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION VIA THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR) is a non-governmental organization, formed to defend, sustain, and promote fundamental human rights as guaranteed in the Nigeria Constitution, the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights, the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and other international conventions and covenants on human rights. More so, we campaign for the full implementation of human rights including cultural, economic, and social rights

We write you, via the Freedom of Information Act, to request information which is boarding on financial mismanagement under the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola which you claimed to have led to significant irregularities in the management of public funds during his tenure which was stated as a reason for the extension of service years in Osun State.

We, therefore, request that your office promptly release a comprehensive report on the financial mismanagement uncovered during the previous administration, including details of any investigations that have been conducted and actions taken to address the issue by your administration.

Furthermore, we would like to request a summary of the public service and financial reforms that your administration has embarked upon because that has been the justification for the elongation of the service year under your administration.

We understand that elongation of service years is not in the purview of the Governor, but that the Governor has the constitutional power to appoint or to remove any appointed person as stated in Section 208 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. More so, The Osun State Public Service Rule 2011, 020810 states in clear terms the compulsory age for all grades, and that no officer be allowed to remain in service after attaining the retirement age of 60 years or 35 years of pensionable service whichever is earlier.

Conclusively, we request access to all documents or information that would help us to better understand these reforms your administration has embarked on and the financial mismanagement under the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

We look forward to receiving a prompt response to our requests, while we are set to pay all costs associated with our request as stated in the FOI Act.
Thanks in anticipation.
