I read Ismail Omipidan’s gibberish on Aregbesola and Osun Defender on Friday. I also read the response of the editor of Osun Defender, Ismaeel Uthman, and later another epistle from Omipidan where he attacked the person of Mr Ismaeel Abiodun Uthman .
I have known Omipidan to be a liar, an unrepentant one for that matter. Omipidan is also good at manipulation, misrepresentation of fact and pretence. Here is an instance: On my birthday last year, May 5, Omipidan insulted my person. He wrote: “Happy birthday Abegunde, a man who hates me and curses me simply because I speak in defence of my Principal ……I wish you well and pray Allah grants you long life in good health to witness my prosperity in life.” This was a man I never discussed not to talk of cursing. That was a confirmation that the man can just wake up to cook up lies.

On the current issue, Omipidan has continued to insult the sensibility of Osun people. He has found delights in lying and attacking Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and anybody associated with him. I found some areas that I decided to address in Omipidan’s response to the reply of my brother, Ismaeel. The first area is where he sing-praised himself and made reference to my boss, uncle Baderinwa Adelani with an allusion that he performed better than him. Omipidan is such a terrible liar and an uncultured person. Referring to uncle Lani simply shows how undisciplined and discourteous he is.
The record of uncle Lani’s performance as the commissioner for Information and Strategy is there for him to check. My Oga came at a time Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s administration was having bad press both within and outside the state. Uncle Lani’s appointment as commissioner changed the narratives in the media society. He deployed competence, strategy, good human relations, humility and spread the little resources at his disposal across. He managed the state government’s image professionally. I doubt if the self-styled spokesperson of an unpopular and defeated former governor will have 30 per cent of uncle Lani’s stewardship. Omipidan should ask members of the correspondents’ chapel about uncle Lani’s performance and how well they were treated. In every media outing, Uncle Lani always receive accolade. He managed the pensioners and modulated salary crisis very well.

The second issue is about him claiming that Aregbesola’s guys hated him because he takes bullet for Oyetola. Omipidan should just be responsible, even when he does his hatchet job. Only an impolite man will continue to act the way Omipidan has been doing. Going by his statement, it means Omipidan hates Aregbesola guys because of their strong defence to Omipidan’s principal and his apologists’ attack on Aregbesola. If Omipidan could take bullet for his principal, why should he be attacking Osun Defender for example for doing their job. That is hypocrisy!
Thirdly, Omipidan, in an attempt to twist fact and confuse the readers, renewed his curse on the electorate in Osun State. He re-emphasized that “history will be harsh” on those who unleashed Governor Ademola Adeleke. If that is not a curse, is it a prayer? The people who unleashed (to use his own word) Adeleke on the state are majority of the electorate who voted for Adeleke. Omipidan should stop listening to himself. Why can’t Omipidan and his sponsors get rid of the pain of losing an election almost two years after?
Like I commented on a WhatsApp group, Omipidan didn’t receive proper briefing from his master and others who have failed to run down Osun Defender in respect of the 20million Naira allegedly paid by the Oyetola goverment. I am aware that Kola Olabisi was disengaged from Osun Defender in 2017 when he was still a Board member of OSBC. Oyetola’s friend, Ayo Akinola, who was paid the money due to Osun Defender, was not known until 2019. Where is the connection? Omipidan is just a serial liar, he should provide evidence to show that Oyetola paid Osun Defender N20m. I know, without asking anybody, that Oyetola’s wickedness and hatred for Aregbesola will not allow him to pay a dime to the newspaper. Osun Defender has been in existence since 2005 and he continues to exist till now, and it will continue to exist. I know Omipidan and his people are not happy with that.
He also claimed Ismaeel is struggling to be confirmed as editor. Omipidan should tell us who the Editor of Osun Defender is. I am aware of Omipidan’s several attempts to suppress Osun Defender and weaken Ismaeel. He has just landed another failed attempt.
Omipidan is doing a great disservice to Oyetola and the Osun APC in general. The more he senselessly attacks my mentor, Ogbeni RAUF AREGBESOLA , the more the people of the state hate his principal.
