Pedestrians, Motorists and property owners at Olodo area of Oyo State were thrown into ecstasy as the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, drove on Olodo bridge.
It could be recalled that the previous culvert in Olodo was washed away by a devastating flood in July, 2023, a development that changed the government’s initial decision and agreed with the contractor to construct a bridge in November,2023.
Addressing the jubilating road users, Oluwo commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his understanding, noting that his engineering experience contributed immensely to construct a full bridge at Olodo. I extend the kudos to the contractor, Engr. Lanre Adeleke of Peculiar Ultimate Concern Limited, for timely and wuality delivery.
“I’m one of the primary publics of Olodo bridge. The bridge is acute to the economic survival of both Osun and Oyo States. I pass through the road regularly, sometimes twice a week. Utilizing alternative routes has been so difficult most especially when you are trying to catch your flight. I leave Iwo almost two hours before to catch a flight at Ibadan airport. Now that the bridge will be opened, less than an hour from Iwo, one should be in Ibadan”
“With my experience of construction work, such a gigantic bridge used to take between 8-12months. It is surprising that Peculiar is delivering the bridge less than 6months. I call him spirit. “Yesterday, the bridge was opened for pedestrians. By 20th May, 2024, it will be opened for motorists. Just now, I drove on it to test run. For allowing this to happen within a few months, Governor Seyi Makinde deserves commendation. Not many governors will perform excellently well in his second term. Let’s give it to him.
“I appeal to the governor and the contractor to fast track the road construction as well. I know bridge construction has always been so challenging. I will always be there to give any assistance to the duo to ensure the road is completed”
