Governor Adeleke Demonstrates Commitment to Development with Flag-Off of Infrastructure Projects in Ile Ife

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Flags Off Flyover Bridge and Local Government Roads Projects in Ile Ife.

Governor Adeleke, while addressing dignitaries and citizens of Ile Ife at the official flag-off ceremony of the flyover bridge at Lagere Junction, he welcomed the sons and daughters of Ile Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba race, to the epoch-making event, which was held at the historic Lagere Junction, a strategic location that connects several communities in Ile Ife.


Governor Adeleke congratulated His Royal Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, for having this landmark project under his watch.
He acknowledged the deep level of infrastructure deficit across the five local governments of Ile Ife, which include Ife East, Ife North, Ife South West, Ife North West, and Ife Central, and announced that his government had decided to address the challenges by applying a big-picture approach.

The governor explained that his administration had embarked on a multi-billion naira agenda to address the infrastructural deficits in Ile Ife, which includes the construction of roads, bridges, and flyovers, as well as the renovation of schools, healthcare facilities, and water supply systems. He listed various achievements and plans for the future across the five local government areas of Osun State, including:

– The asphaltic tarring of Oriyangi-Oke Atan-Ogbedu Road in Ife East Local Government
– The renovation of Yekemi Maternity in Ife East Local Government
– The provision of seven boreholes across Ife North Local Government
– The renovation of schools across Ife North Local Government
– The commencement of three road construction projects across Ife North Local Government

The governor also announced plans for the future, including:

– The proposed renovation of Olurin Road in Ife East Local Government
– The proposed renovation of Ifelodun Maternity in Ife North Local Government
– The proposed construction of a new road in Ife South West Local Government

The flyover bridge, which is the first of its kind in Ile Ife, is aimed at easing traffic, facilitating connectivity, and attracting adjacent economic activities. The project was awarded to Messrs Sammya Nigeria Limited at a total project cost of N14.9 billion, with a completion period of twelve months. The bridge will have a total length of 1.5 kilometers and will be constructed with a combination of steel and concrete.

Additionally, Governor Adeleke flagged off the construction of local government roads totaling 55.86km at a cost of N30.6 billion, also with a completion period of twelve months. The roads will be constructed in phases, with the first phase covering 20 kilometers and the second phase covering 35.86 kilometers.

The governor urged the contractors and host communities to partner closely for the successful execution of the projects, emphasizing the importance of community relations. He also appealed to the citizens of Ile Ife to support the government’s efforts to develop the city and the state as a whole.

With these projects, the Osun State government is demonstrating its commitment to solving the developmental issues facing Ile Ife and the state as a whole, despite funding constraints. The governor assured the people of Ile Ife and Osun State that his government is working towards a greater height for the state, and that these projects are just the beginning of a new era of development and progress in Osun State.
