The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has cautioned women leaders of the party against selling or merchandising the wrappers donated by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to Nigerian women. He made this statement during the official presentation of the wrappers at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Ganduje emphasized that the clothing materials must be freely given to the women without demanding anything in return. He encouraged the women leaders to manage the quantity of wrappers in good faith, as the program aims to promote financial inclusiveness for women.
Representing the First Lady, the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, urged the women to make the most of the program and assured them that more initiatives like this are forthcoming.
Ganduje reiterated that the program is designed to support women who are already in the fabrics business but are facing economic challenges. He advised the women leaders in charge of the program to be honest, transparent, and nationalistic in distributing the wrappers, ensuring they reach the intended target group.
In his words, “These wrappers are free, don’t expect anything from them, don’t expect transport fare, give them free.”
