A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, has dismissed a case against instituted against the Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed.

The plaintiffs were questioning the sovereignty of Oba Akanbi replacing deceased members of the Mosque Trustees.

It could be recalled that a few years ago, a replacement was made for the members of the Mosque’s Board of Trustees (BOT) who have died

A writ of summons was issued on 11th November,2022 and filed 14th November,2022.

Delivering his judgement on Tuesday,7th May, 2024, Justice N. Ayo Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo judicial division, dismissed the case on lack of merit.

Reacting, the youth wing of Iwo Muslims Concern (IMC), commended the judiciary for upholding the truth, affirming the sovereignty of Oluwo on the Mosque.

According to them ‘ Iwo has a peculiar history in Islam. Unlike some other towns, Iwo Central Mosque is an exclusive property of the Oluwo. The throne brought Islam to Iwo and converted people to Islam. In some other Yoruba towns, Islam was propagated by Alfas and spread to the throne

“Those who instituted such a ridiculous case are suffering from delusion or they lack the knowledge of elementary history about the Mosque. We told them then. But because they are deaf, the court has informed them again”
