Two Labourers Trapped Inside Well Die In Osun

A tragic incident occurred in Osun State on Thursday, when two labourers were trapped inside a well while fetching water at a construction site in Ile-Ife.

According to eyewitnesses, the labourers, whose identities were not confirmed, were from Iwo and were working on a building project opposite Ilesa Motor Park, Ile-Ife. The fetcher they were using to fetch water dropped inside the well, and one of the labourers entered the well to retrieve it but got trapped and drowned. The second labourer, who attempted to rescue his partner, also got stuck inside and drowned.

The corpses of the two labourers were retrieved through the joint efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Fire Service.

The incident has been described as a tragic loss of life, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been launched.

The authorities have urged construction sites to prioritize the safety of workers and ensure that necessary precautions are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The families of the deceased have been informed, and the community is in mourning over the loss of the two young lives.
