The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Festus Akingbaso as the running mate for its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
According to the Publicity Secretary of the Ondo State chapter of the PDP, Kennedy Peretei, Akingbaso was chosen as the party’s deputy governorship candidate. He is a member of the House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore Constituency and has a strong political presence in the state.
Akingbaso, popularly known as Fessy West, has a rich political experience, having served as a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly before his election into the National Assembly. He hails from Idanre in Idanre Local Government Area of the Ondo Central Senatorial District.
The PDP’s decision to name Akingbaso as its deputy governorship candidate is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s chances in the upcoming election. His experience and political clout are expected to complement Ajayi’s candidacy and boost the party’s chances of winning the election.
Akingbaso replaces Samuel Ogunmusi, whose name was earlier submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a placeholder for the deputy governorship slot.
The PDP is confident that the Ajayi/Akingbaso ticket will resonate with the people of Ondo State and lead the party to victory in the governorship election.
