The UEFA Champions League returns for the 2024/25 season, bringing with it a significant change in the tournament’s structure.
Unlike previous editions, this season will follow a completely new format, making it the 70th campaign of the prestigious competition.
The most notable change is the replacement of the traditional group stage with a single 36-team league stage.
Each team will play eight matches—four at home and four away—against different opponents. The top eight teams in the league will advance directly to the Round of 16.
Teams finishing 9th to 24th will enter a knockout round play-off, with the winners moving on to join the Round of 16. The tournament will then proceed in a knockout format until the final.
