The Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria (EAPEAN) has congratulated Nigerians on the 64th independence anniversary, while also calling on the government to prioritize employment creation and job security.

In a statement signed by Dr. Olufemi Ogunlowo, President of EAPEAN, the association acknowledged Nigeria’s progress since independence but emphasized the need for concerted efforts to address the country’s employment challenges.

“As we celebrate our nation’s 64th independence anniversary, EAPEAN recognizes the significant strides Nigeria has made. However, we urge the government to tackle the pressing issues of unemployment, skills mismatch, and decent work deficits,” Dr. Ogunlowo stated.

EAPEAN highlighted the importance of private employment agencies in facilitating job creation and skills development. The association pledged to continue working with stakeholders to promote fair labor practices, improve employment opportunities, and support Nigeria’s economic growth.

Dr. Ogunlowo noted, “EAPEAN remains committed to partnering with the government, international organizations, and civil society to address the challenges facing Nigeria’s labor market. We believe that together, we can create a more inclusive and productive workforce.”

The association called on the government to implement policies promoting job creation and entrepreneurship, enhance vocational training and skills development programs, strengthen labor market institutions and regulations and foster public-private partnerships for employment generation

EAPEAN reaffirmed its dedication to advancing decent work principles, fair labor standards, and social dialogue in Nigeria.

“Happy 64th Independence Anniversary to all Nigerians. We look forward to collaborating with the government and stakeholders to build a brighter future for Nigerian workers,” Dr. Ogunlowo concluded.
