The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) has foiled a robbery attack at the Onibu-Eja community along the Iwo-Ibadan road area of the state.
The command also recovered a vehicle from the fleeing robbers during the incident which happened on Saturday.
ADULAWO NEWS reports that the state NSCDC commandant, Michael Adaralewa, in a statement on Sunday by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, said the four-man armed robbery gang invaded a house at Onibu-eja at about 15:25 am where a vehicle was stolen at gunpoint from a family.
The spokesperson said that operatives of the command swung into action immediately after a call was put across to inform about the incident.
“The officers of the command on patrol swung into action and engaged the suspects in a gun duel. Faced with superior firepower th,e suspects fled leaving the stolen vehicle behind.
“The stolen Toyota Corolla recovered has the chassis number 1NXBU40E49Z005008 with registration number KWL911TC, ABUJA and is currently at Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) Osun State. Discreet investigation has commenced to arrest the suspects and make them face the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
Dr Michael Adaralewa commended the swift response of the officers and their bravery in foiling this armed robbery attack.
He also lauded members of the public for giving timely information to the command. He assured that NSCDC would continue to justify the trust reposed in it by members of the public.
The NSCDC boss in the state also used the opportunity to send warnings to criminally minded people in the state to have a change of mind or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
