No fewer than 16 graduate students of the Fountain University will bag First-Class Honors at 14th Convocation Ceremony of the school.
Speaking at a press conference held at the university premises on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor, Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. Olayinka Karim said that 14th Convocation Ceremony of the university will celebrate the academic accomplishments of 345 graduates across sub-degree, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.
According to VC, the university will confer diplomas, first degrees, and higher degrees as follows: 315 First Degrees, with 16 achieving First-Class Honors, 105 earning Second Class Upper Division, 120 attaining Second Class Lower Division, and 37 securing Third Class.
“This convocation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, and staff, and we are honored to celebrate their success today.
“The ceremony will continue this evening with sporting activities, featuring football and volleyball matches between students and staff. Tomorrow, we will focus on bridging the gap between academia and industry through the “Entrepreneurship, Research, and Innovation” session, emphasizing our Town-Gown-Industry synergy. Students will present their innovative entrepreneurial ideas.
“The day will be concluded with the Merit Award ceremony to honour outstanding staff, students, alumni, and community members.
On Friday, January 10th, we will hold a special Jummah service followed by the groundbreaking ceremony for a 500-seater lecture hall and a 30-room female hostel. On Sunday, January 12th, the second Walimatul-Qur’an ceremony will take place, celebrating the Quranic proficiency of 15 students. This event will feature an insightful lecture by the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Dr. Imam Muhyideen Salman Hussein.
“Monday, January 13th, will feature the commissioning of the final project donated by the G5 in the morning, followed by the commissioning of the academic complex donated by Chief Kola Karim in the evening.
“The convocation lecture will take place at 2:00 PM, delivered by Rt. Hon. Sabur Oladimeji Bankole CFR, the 11th Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives (2007-2011), with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, chairing the occasion. Later that evening, our esteemed alumni will gather for a dinner aimed at strengthening their bonds with the university.
“The week will be concluded on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, with the grand convocation ceremony, where 345 graduates will be conferred diplomas, first degrees, and higher degrees. This will be followed by the prize-giving ceremony.
