Graduating students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree have constructed electronic voting machine.
The group of students who graduated from Electrical/Electronics department of the Institution presented the machine as their final year project in fulfilment part of the requirements for Higher National Diploma certificate.
After defending the project monitored by lecturers of their department the students expressed delight for the success of the project.
In an interview with one of the graduating students that constructed the device Adebayo Saheed, said the electronic voting device was their project work for the year.
He further explained that the device, “intends to speed the counting of ballots, reduce the cost of paying staff to count votes manually and can provide improved accessibility for disabled voters.”
According to him, “electronic voting device is a portable instrument for conducting any elections in the country especially in an institution to achieve credibility in the election result.
“It is a microcontroller-based instrument designed to modernise the election process. It is simple to operate, portable and can be installed in a short period.”
Th project supervisor, Engr. Ajetunmobi lauded the students for their efforts and encouraged them to be more productive in the society.
