APC Southwest Leaders Meeting: Aregbesola Pointedly Refused To Shake Omisore’s Hand

At the yesterday meeting of the All Progressives’ Congress, southwest leaders caucus, the former Governor of Osun and current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola pointedly refused to shake hands with Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the prime suspect in the assassination of Chief Bola Ige.

The late Ige was a prominent leader of the progressive in southwest, a former Governor of the old Oyo State, attorney general and minister of justice of the federation. His assassination in December 2001 generated a nationwide agony and arrest of some individuals including the current APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore.

It was gathered from impeccable sources at the meeting that Aregbesola pointedly refused to shake Omisore’s hand or sit next to him and Oyetola.

Aregbesola was expected to sit down next to Omisore and Oyetola, but he refused to associate with them, deciding instead to sit far off. Attempts by the elders to make Aregbesola change his mind proved abortive as he said he didn’t want to be associated with Omisore, one of the sources said.

“As against the opinion of some quarters, claiming that Aregbesola has bent his principle of not having anything to do with a man of questionable character, the two term Osun Governor has again proven to be a man of his words that knows what and what he stands for”, another source at the meeting said.
